I'll be honest: being on lockdown during a pandemic isn't all that different from daily life for me. For years, I've spent the majority of my day (and sometimes, nights) working from my home office, punctuated by hikes with my husband and dogs, and sofa reading breaks with my cats. There's usually a pot of tea nearby, and maybe I'm drinking an extra cup each day for the additional antioxidants. Right now, with so many offices closed, less email to answer and mandatory social distancing at play, I'm taking the opportunity to revisit some of my favorite escape literature:
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien
Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman
Edward Gorey's body of work
The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula Le Guin
The Blue Max by Jack D. Hunter
His Dark Materials Trilogy by Phillip Pullman
P.D. James' complete works
Letters from Iceland by W.H. Auden and Louis MacNeice
The Salzburg Connection, Assignment in Brittany and North From Rome by Helen MacInnes
